Main Purpose

To perform job of fabrication, fitting, assembly, installation, inspection of iron piping system in accordance with the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards.

Essential Functions

• Planning, laying out, assembly and fitting of pipe, pipe spools, tubes and fittings such as elbows, tees, valves, hoses, gauges, and related pumps/equipment using blueprints while maintaining alignment tolerances.
• Installing outfit items such as pumps, strainers, valve actuators, gauges, hoses, expansion joints, etc.
• Attach pipes to structures and fixtures; Cut and bore holes in structures, such bulkheads, decks, and inner bottom for pipe installation using brackets, clamps, hangers, by welding or using hand and power tools.
• Measure, mark, bevel, cut, fit, thread pipe and/or install iron, fiberglass material, steel braces, beams, plate, pipe, etc., in accordance with blue-print and job specifications schedules.
• Alignment of spools, pipe and components using chain falls and other equipment.
• Inspect, examine, and test installed pipe systems or segments using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Quality checking completed items.
• Ability to follow instructions, written and/or verbal, with little or no supervision.
• Other typical duties performed by a pipe fitter.
• Follow instructions & effectively communicate, written and/or verbal, with little or no supervision.
• Read and interpret blueprint and specification schedules.
• Perform mathematical calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles etc.
• Follow fitting procedures and principles used in the fabrication of offshore jackets, decks, heliports, production facilities, etc.
• Perform other related job duties as assigned in safe and efficient manner; also, see physical requirements.

Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking hearing and seeing - These are all considered normal physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this industrial environment is a safe and efficient manner.

Lifting - ability to lift 25-50lbs. and up to 75lbs. on occasion.

Job Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience and be able to successfully demonstrate the ability to pass a written and practical pipe fitter test.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

•Highschool diploma or GED.

Tools and Equipment Used

Fitters must have knowledge of and used cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts and/or high reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders, etc. Must be able to read and write.

Environmental Conditions

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel/or gas, etc.)
