REVENUE FIELD AGENT, LEAD (CLASS CODE 0441)

Description:

Professional administrative, field and some supervisory work performing sales tax collection and account maintenance. Positions allocated to this class are expected to perform complex investigations including those involving tax protestors and non-complying tax entities as well as researching and determining tax liabilities. An employee in this class would be expected to train and lead subordinate agents on field protocols and procedures. Work requires a high level of proficiency in preparing reports, identifying delinquent accounts and account analysis for enforcement recommendations. Work includes acting as a liaison with law enforcement agencies for account referrals for delinquent sales tax and licenses. Work includes researching and providing case history for lower level agents who must appear in Municipal Court on case violations. Work of this class requires thorough knowledge of City and State sales tax regulations for correct application of these laws in enforcement matters; and related work as required.

  1. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. A valid driver's license. Applicants must have a good driving record.
  3. EITHER: Permanent or probationary status with the City of New Orleans as a Senior Revenue Field Agent and one (1) year of experience in that classification, and successful completion of the following courses offered by the Department of Civil Service Employee Growth and Development Division: Professional/Administrative Speaking & Presentation (PAT 1120), Professional/Administrative Writing (PAT 1130), Professional/Administrative Math & Statistics (PAT 1420), Professional/Administrative Supervision (PAT 1610), Managing Conflicts & Human Relations (PAT 1690), Creative Problem Solving & Decision Making (PAT 1870), Productive Meetings (PAT 1871).
  4. OR: Three (3) years of full-time professional work in tax collection or a closely related field. Work experience must have been gained in a position requiring a Bachelor's degree at upon entrance.

*Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify driver's license and education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

A written examination, weighted 100%.
