Engineering Operations Manager

Description:

Our client is a fast-growing, faith-driven fintech company empowering nonprofits, churches, and ministries with easy-to-use donation and payments tools. Since 2010, they've grown a remote-first team that values low bureaucracy, servant leadership, and driving mission-based impact through innovative technology.

You'll manage the client's existing DevOps & Site Reliability (SRE) team-one SRE and two DevOps engineers-focused on scaling and supporting our payments platform. Your leadership and technical direction will be pivotal in expanding compliance, automation, and infrastructure resilience.

Responsiblities:

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of 3, ensuring clear workflows, deliverables, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Infrastructure Ownership: Oversee current AWS and on-prem systems that support payment processing and bank/credit-card settlements.
  • Compliance & Audits: Lead PCI-DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other audit preparation-drive Drata platform integration and certification readiness.
  • Architecture & Scaling: Architect and manage infrastructure to support future expansion-including on-prem "visa box" for bank settlements.
  • Automation & DevOps: Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, IaC (e.g., Terraform), container tools (Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Reliability Engineering: Define SLOs/SLIs, improve uptime, incident management, alerting.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Product, and Finance teams to integrate infrastructure strategy into the broader roadmap.
  • Documentation & Metrics: Maintain clear operational documentation and track key metrics like deployment frequency, MTTR, and uptime.
Qualifications:
Must Have-
  • 10+ years in payments platform infrastructure
  • Managerial experience with DevOps/SRE teams
  • Deep knowledge of PCI-DSS and SOC 2 compliance
  • Hands-on use of Drata for compliance
  • Proven manager, strong communicator
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IT or related
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience building bank settlement on-prem systems
  • Advanced degree in CS / IT or equivalent
  • AWS certification
  • Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Background in credit-card / bank processing
  • Experience in low-bureaucracy, mission-driven orgs
