Overview

The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for conducting the installation of metal/board HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Sheet Metal Mechanic include:

  1. Assembling and installing metal duct and fiberglass board.
  2. Reading and understanding blueprints and sheet metal shop drawings.
  3. Installing all phases of ductwork including spiral, rectangular, and double wall, as well as welded ducts.
  4. Understanding and using different connectors.
  5. Creating hanger layouts and performing some field measuring.
  6. Organizing the work area and maintaining hand tools.
  7. Lifting heavy materials at heights.

Qualifications

The qualifications for the Sheet Metal Mechanic include:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in sheet metal and fiberglass, ductwork installation on commercial/residential projects.
  • Own sheet metal hand tools, company supplies power tools.
  • Ability to follow job-site instructions.
  • Lift heavy materials and not be afraid of heights.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
  • OSHA 10 or 30.
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
  • Noisy environment.
  • Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds.
  • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Pay Range

USD $19.18 - USD $25.64 /Hr.
