Job Description

  • Conducts Annual Physical Inventory: scans property, generates reports, assists departments with researching and locating equipment.
  • Assists with placement or reissuing of barcodes to university owned equipment.
  • Provide assistance and back up to the Property Control Manager for most Workday related data input. These duties include running reports, printing associated purchase orders, analysis of the data prior to data entry into Workday, and data entry.
  • Assists with visual inspection and tagging of moveable property at time of delivery and reports information to the Property Control Manager.
  • Advises University personnel on all property matters and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State property control rules and regulations.
  • Supervises, motivates, and trains student workers. Plans, directs, organizes and controls the day-to-day work of subordinates. Duties to supervise include: 1) the entire tagging process 2) movement of surplus equipment on campus and equipment transfer to Baton Rouge. Assigns and adjusts assignments daily. Monitors progress of daily work. Correct problems; expedites solutions; and efficiently overcomes obstacles. Organizes and streamlines business processes as necessary. Ensures that the Property Control Manager is kept informed as necessary. Performs tasks as assigned by the Property Control Manager.
  • Insures that Property Control Management performs all duties required by AP-BA-29.3 - Employees' Personal Responsibility for Entrusted Equipment.
  • Assists the Property Control Manager with picking up new vehicles in Baton Rouge; registering the vehicle with office of motor vehicles; and any other associated paperwork for this process.
  • Assists the Property Control Manager in all administrative responsibilities (payroll, attends meetings in place of Manager ,etc.).
  • Coordinates the pick-up, storage, and disposition of university surplus property. This includes scheduling with the various departments for the pick-up or drop off of surplus property; transferring of the surplus property from departments to the surplus warehouse; and arranging for the final disposition of the surplus property including the preparation of transfers submitted to LPAA.
  • Assists with the preparation of work requests and vehicle logs given to Facility Services.
  • Assists in the preparation of various reports, such as the Certification of Annual Property Inventory,
  • Organizes and coordinates the day-to-day setup of the warehouse to include cleanliness, lay-out of surplus equipment for movement to various departments and Baton Rouge.
  • Able to operate forklift and operate up to 20' box truck.
  • Acting as liaison for departments related to storage of historical records.
  • Additional duties as assigned,
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree and at least one year of business-related experience.
  • Progressively responsible experience may be substituted for a degree on a year for year basis.
  • Individual must be self-motivated, energetic, and have demonstrated ability in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and be able to drive up to 20' box truck.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in a property management in a university, hospital, large hotel, or industrial complex.
  • Working knowledge of automated systems, especially Workday ERP, MS Office Suite, MS Access and Excel.
  • Familiar with L.A.C. Title 34, Part VII Property Control rules and Regulations
